Wadjda

Though growing up in a conservative world, Wadjda is fun-loving and rebellious. One day she sees and covets a beautiful green bicycle. But her mother won't buy it, fearing repercussions from a society that sees bicycles as dangerous to a girl's virtue. So Wadjda decides to raise the money herself, and becomes determined to win the cash prize for a Koran recitation competition at her school. She devotes herself to the memorisation of Koranic verses, and her teachers begin to see her as a model of piety.
