Plot

Our planet is now a hostile place, where viruses and genetically modified organisms coexist after having wiped out most of the population. Vesper, a girl who lives with her paralytic father, struggles every day to try to survive and help her father. Unfortunately, she does not belong to the few privileged persons that control the so-called "citadels", which are remote places where a few ones manage to survive thanks to the latest generation of biotechnology they have created. One day, Vesper finds a crashed plane coming from one of the citadels with a single survivor: Camelia. She, and the secret she hides, could be the key to reach a better future, but only with the help and unique abilities that Vesper possesses.

'Vesper' is a science fiction apocalyptic film directed by Kristina Buozyte and Bruno Samper ('The ABCs of Death 2', 'Aurora'), who have also written the script. The film stars Raffiela Chapman ('The theory of everything'), Eddie Marsan (Vendetta V) and Rosy McEwen ('The Alienist: Angel of Darkness'), alongside them are also Richard Brake ('R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned'), Melanie Gaydos ('Insid: The Last Key'), Edmund Dehn ('The Time of Happiness'), Matvej Buravkov, Nojus Buslevicius, Markas Eimontas and Markas Sagaitis.

Trivia

Awards

'Vesper' participated in the official section of the Sitges Festival and it was the winner of the Fan-cinema of Málaga. The movie has also been awarded in international festivals such as the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival or the Bucheon Fantastic International Film Festival.

Vesper's flying drone

In some of the shots in the movie, the flying drone was made by CGI because the real drone was very loud and actors couldn't concentrate on their lines when it was flying.

Inspiration

The cinematographer Feliksas Abrukauskas was inspired by the paintings by artists Vermeer and Rembrandt for the lighting.
