Plot
The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam dedicates to the historic Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer a retrospective that reunites twenty eight of his thirty seven paintings for an exhibition, that won't be together ever again after closing its doors. With loans from all over the world, here reunite master works like 'Girl with a Pearl Earring', 'The Geographer', 'The Milkmaid', 'The Little Street', 'Woman Holding a Balance' and 'Mistress and Maid'. Seven of this twenty eight works are exhibited to the public for the first time.
The documentary 'Vermeer: The Greatest Exhibition' offers to the public a private visit of this incredible exhibition, accompanied by the director of the museum, Taco Dibbits. We also review Vermeer's art, his choices and motivations and the creative process behind his work.
A new film from the cinematographic project Exhibition on Screen, directed by David Bickerstaff, who's already been at the head of other documentaries like 'Pissarro - The Father of Impressionism' and 'Exhibition on Screen - Sunflowers'.
As a narrator we have Robert Lindsay, British actor from theatre and television, known for his roles in series like 'My Family', 'G. B. H.' and 'Jake's Progress' and films like 'Maleficent: Mistress of Evil', 'Hawkins' and 'Fierce Creatures'.
