Uri: The Surgical Strike

'Uri: The Surgical Strike' is a Bollywood action film and the debut work by director Aditya Dhar. Split into five episodic chapters, the film chronicles the surgical strikes of 2016 organised by the Indian military as a form of resistance after, in September 2016, four armed militants infiltrated army barracks in Uri, Kashmir and Jammu, resulting in the murders of 19 soldiers. The five episodes chart the events leading up to and of the strike, from planning to the attack. Though the Pakistanti forces and authorities suspect that India intends to retaliate, they underestimate the force with which they plan to do avenge their fallen men.

Serving as the film's protagonist is Major Vihaan Singh Shergill (Vicky Kaushal), known for his excellent grasp of strategy. Vihaan initially intends to trade in this exciting life for the opportunity to spend more time with his mother as her Alzheimer's worsens. however, when Vihaan's brother-in-law, Karan (Mohit Raina), is killed during the Uri Army Base Camp attacks, Vihaan decides to join the surgical strike in his search to avenge not just Karan, but all the soldiers killed in the vicious attacks.

Written as well as directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' brings real-life military action to the big screen.
