In 2012, John Dalli, Health Commissioner of the European Union, is accused of corruption for allegedly trafficking tobacco. After being fired from the European Union, José Bové, a member of the institution, decides to investigate the case of this mysterious matter. The well-known maverick of the French environmental party will face the rest of the members in order to get to the end of the matter.

After investigating some papers, Bové believes that the tobacco producer Swedish Match has organized a masterplan against Dalli, an aspect that could greatly involve the President of the European Commission, José Barroso, who confronts Bové so that he does not expose the truth. 'Une affaire de principe' is a film directed by French filmmaker Antoine Raimbault. The story adapts the book 'Hold-up à Bruxelles les lobbies au cœur de l' Europe', written by José Bové himself together with Gilles Luneau.

Director Raimbault has previously directed 'Une intime conviction' in 2018. For this new occasion he has had Bouli Lanners as the main character. The actor has previously appeared in 'Le père de Benjamin'.
