Plot
'The Triangle of Sadness' is the fourteenth feature film by the Swedish director Ruben Östlund. Carl and Yaya, a couple of models, are invited to a luxury cruise. A storm rises in the middle of the voyage, this triggers the shipwreck with its subsequent anarchy where money will not have the value that distanced travelers from the ship's staff, abundance against scarcity.
Östlund repeats the same formula that he followed in 2017 with his feature film 'The Square', another criticism of class society. Like 'The Square', 'The Triangle of Sadness' has been crowned at the Cannes Film Festival, achieving the Palme d'Or, the highest award of the contest.
The model couple, played by Charlbi Dean and Harris Dickson, will share the journey with other rich people: Dimity, a fun Russian, played by Zlatko Buric; a retired gunsmith couple played by Amanda Walker and Oliver Ford Davies; Iris Berben, also acts in the film impersonating Therese, a woman who is still recovering from a stroke. This cruise has a stellar ship's crew. The yacht is captained by Woody Harrelson, accompanied by Vicki Berlin, who plays Paula, the commander and right hand of the captain. The Filipino actress Dolly de Leon will play one of the key characters in the film, Abigail, a cleaner who, in due time, will value the things that are really essential in life, apart from money.
