Plot
Sequel to the hit that was 'Train to Busan', one of the great international sensations of Korean fantastic cinema of 2016, which was also the first film to surpass the 10 million spectator barrier in its country. In 'Peninsula' the events take place four years after the events narrated in the first part. Now the virus that unleashed the chaos and zombie invasion has inevitably spread across the entire Korean peninsula, turning it into a post-apocalyptic desert. In the midst of this desolation, a small group of survivors roam its streets at night, fleeing as best they can from the undead who want to kill them.
Behind the cameras of 'Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula' is Sang-ho Yeon, director of the first installment as well as 'Seoul Station' and 'Psychokinesis'. He also does the script, but does it again with Joo-Suk Park. This film stars Dong-won Gang, Kim Min-jae, Koo Kyo-hwan, and Jung-hyun Lee, two little-known actors outside the borders of South Korea. A more recognizable face is that of Kwon Hae-hyo, a young actress we saw in 'The Day After', Sang-soo Hong's feature film nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017.
Despite marketed as a sequel to 'Train to Busan' this film is a stand-alone movie that does not feature or mention any of the previous film's characters.
