Tobacco Farms

Vera is a seven-year-old girl who leaves her city every summer to spend her holidays in the village of her grandparents in an agricultural area of southern Spain where tobacco is still grown. Meanwhile, Nieves, a teenager who lives in the same village as Vera's grandparents and whose father is one of the few persons left in the area growing tobacco, feels trapped in a cage from which she would love to escape leaving the village. Both girls, Vera and Nieves, will see two very different realities intertwined by a giant creature found in Vera's grandparents' abandoned dryer. A portrait of a small rural village that presents two very different but parallel realities at the same time.

'Tobacco Farms' has been filmed in Vega de Granada (Spain) and stars Ada Mar Lupiáñez, Vera Centenera, Jennifer Ibáñez, Eduardo Santana Jiménez, Cristina Eugenia Segura Molina, José Sáez Conejero, Pedro Camacho Rodríguez and Tamara Arias. With the direction and the script of Rocio Mesa, the photography of Alana Mejía González and music of Paloma Peñarrubia.

The film has launched the South by Southwest de Austin Festival where it has won the Public Award in the Visions section and also it has won the DCP Delux Award on the International Cinematographic Festival of Gijon.
