To Leslie

Based on true events, the film tells the story of Leslie Rowlands, a single mother from West Texas who, after winning the lottery, quickly squanders the prize money, spending it all on alcohol, drugs and parties. Six years later, evicted, Leslie wants to try to reconnect with her twenty-year-old son James in the hopes of getting her life back on track, but it is far from easy.

'To Leslie' has been a big surprise as despite being an American independent production, it has managed to win a nomination for Andrea Riseborough in the category of the best leading actress at the Oscars in 2023, in addition to being nominated for best actress at the Chicago Film Critics Association Awards.

The film is written by Ryan Binaco ('3022'). It is the first feature film from Emmy-nominated TV director Michael Morris, who has been behind significant TV credits such as 'Better Call Seul', 'Locke & Key', 'Thirteen Reasons Why' and 'Bloodline'. Riseborough is joined in the cast by actors and actresses such as Allison Janney, Stephen Root, Matt Lauria, James Landry Hébert, Marc Maron, Owen Teague, Andre Royo, Mezi Atwood, Mac Brandt, Juan Carlos Cantu, Tom Virtue, Alan Wells, Lauren Letherer, Scott Peat, Jeanette O'Connor, Stephanie Wong and Paula Rhodes.
