Plot

This documentary centers on the journey through Spain of Rubén Darío at the beginning of the twentieth century, a dream of the Nicaraguan poet. In this trip he goes around Andalucía, something that allows him to search the sun and the light that helped him to heal his chronic bronquitis and the deep sadness that he was in. The tour through Andalucía will bring love to his life. The documentary mixes beautiful images of the Andalucian lands with the testimonies of experts who know the work and the character of the poet and the reading of his poems.

'Tierras solares' (Summer Films) is one of the fourth titles that arrived at the Málaga Festival under the name of the Fundación Audiovisual de Andalucía (AVA). The director Laura Hojman ('Acariciando el aire', 'Matilde Coral') and the producer Guillermo Rojas ('El Rayo', 'Patuchas', 'The man of the thousand lemons', 'Acariciando el aire', 'Matilde Coral' , 'A Remo') have comments that the shooting of the documentary brought them to different Andalucian landscapes, such as Seville, Málaga, Córdoba, Granada and Cádiz.

The work is co-produced by TVE and Sarao Films, with the support and participation of Canal Sur, the Ministry of Culture and the SGAE Foundation. The director has declared her love for the poetry of Darío, and has highlighted in his presentation that the premise of the film, the journey that the poet made to Andalusian lands, is a quite unknown event in the life of this author and that deserves recognition and to be remembered.
