They Shot the Piano Player

During the 60's and 70's, a music journalist from New York begins a passionate and thrilling investigation in search of the missing pianist Tenorio Jr. All this drama unfolds in an atmosphere of creative freedom fostered by the Latin American musical movement: the Bossa Nova. This thriller presented in animation format and with a strong Bossa-Nova and Jazz rhythm reflects a marked turning point just before the Latin American continent was engulfed and submerged under the oppression of totalitarian regimes.

This film was directed by Fernando Trueba. In addition, its screenplay has also been developed by Trueba together with Javier Mariscal. The cast includes the renowned Jeff Goldblum ('Jurassic Park', 'The Fly', 'The Grand Budapest Hotel') and the musicians Caetano Veloso ('Frida') , João Gilberto ('V for Vendetta') , Vinicius de Moraes ('V for Vendetta'), Gilberto Gil ('Eu Tu Eles') and Paulo Moura ('A Lira Do Delírio').

This film was developed by Fernando Trueba Producciones Cinematográficas, Constellation Productions (as executive producer), Gao Shan Pictures, Les Films d'Ici Méditerranée, Prima Linea Productions and Submarine. This film has already been premiered at some film festivals such as the Toronto International Film Festival and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
