Plot

Mark (Jaiyin Lei, 'Peace Hotel', 'The Wandering Earth', 'Old Boy') is an expat from China currently residing in Australia, where he works for an energy company wants to sign a contract with a city in China that will allow them to install technology that converts coal into gases that can in turn be used as a source of energy. Mark is roped in to a meeting after the company's other Chinese management figure, Peter Hu (Ce Wang, 'The Perfect Couple', 'General and I', 'Go Go Squid!'), goes to Africa on a humanitarian aid project after an earthquake that happened near the company's facility over there. Mark is shocked to see that one of the Chinese organisation's members is his ex-girlfriend, Zhou Siliang (Wei Tang, 'Lust & Caution', 'Office', 'Nature Is Speaking'), who is now the wife of a powerful energy company CEO. Mark's confusion grows when Siliang appears to be the only one to survive a fatal plane crash that night. Mark soon realises that both companies are hiding some dark secrets and that Siliang could be the key to unlocking them before it's too late to prevent more destruction.

'The Windblower' is a Chinese-Australian action film written and directed by Xiaolu Xue, whose other works include 'Ocean Heaven', 'My People, My Country' and 'Finding Mr. Right 2'.
