The Wedding Guest

Jay (Dev Patel, 'Slumdog Millionaire', 'Lion'), a quiet and elusive British man, travels from London to Lahore, Pakistan with a suitcase full of duct tape, multiple passports and weaponry. Jay claims to be on the guest list for a wedding before which he intends to kidnap the bride-to-be, Samira (Radhika Apte, 'Parched', 'Andhadhun') and smuggle her across the border to his employer and her lover, Deepesh (Jim Sarbh, 'Baker's Dozen', 'House Arrest'). Jay offers Samira a choice: he can take her to Deepesh and commit to a life in hiding, or she can return to her groom to be married. Samira refuses to marry, so sets off on a perilous border-crossing with Jay by her side, passing through cities such as Lahore, Delhi, Jaipur and Goa. When the two try to flee and get caught up in an altercation with a bodyguard who is then killed, Deepesh tells Jay that he must take Samira back to Pakistan because there's too much riding on her head following the death of the guard. Jay and Samira's dangerous journey must take a detour, with various authorities and links on their tail all the while.

'The Wedding Guest' is a thriller written and directed by Michael Winterbottom ('Genova', 'The Killer Inside Me'). Joining the cast are Harish Khanna, Nish Nathwani, Meherbaan Singh and Sidhu Manpreet.
