The Velvet Queen

The high plateaus of Tibet. In the heart of the virgin and inaccessible valleys lies one of the last sanctuaries of wildlife, inhabited by an unknown and rare fauna. Vincent Munier, one of the world's most famous nature photographers, travels with the adventurer and writer Sylvain Tesson, for whom he has great admiration. For several weeks, they will travel through these valleys in search of unique animals and try to spot the snow leopard, one of the rarest and most difficult felines to approach.

This search for the invisible will be a revelation for Sylvain Tesson. With the help of Vincent Munier, he will learn to decipher these wild places, to rediscover waiting, silence and observation. A return to the animal essence of man, the humility in front of nature that will be the key for it to finally be born within him.

'The Velvet Queen' has been directed and written by Marie Amiguet and Vincent Munier, based on a commentary by Sylvain Tesson, with Vincent Munier and Sylvain Tesson in the lead roles. With original music by Warren Ellis and Nick Cave and editing by Vincent Schmitt & Marie Amiguet. Produced by Paprika Films, Kobalann Productions, Arte France Cinéma and Le Bureau.

Winner of the César Award for Best Documentary Film and the Lumiére Award for Best Documentary. It also won the Audience Award at the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival and Best Environmental Film at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
