Without news of him and believing him dead, Geneviève accepts the advice of his mother and, because she's pregnant with Guy, and she marries Roland, a handsome jeweler who is in love with the beautiful girl. Time passes and the unexpected happens, Guy returns from the war, but he discovers that his beloved fiancée, the one who kept him alive during the conflict, is married to another man.
