Plot
A young deaf teenage comes to a boarding school, where he will have to get inside an organization that uses violence and crime as a language of communication. In order to join this group, the boy will have to pass some tests and humiliations until he falls in love with one of the concubines and breaks one of the rules of the organization The Tribe, name of the group to which the boy belongs. This love story will have a hard beginning, but finally it will be like any other, because "love and hate, need no translation". 'The Tribe' is an ucranian drama made entirely in sign language and without any dialogue. It has been in several festivals including the Locarno Film Festival and the International Film Festival of Sitges.

'The Tribe' is made up of only 34 shots.
All the actors are deaf and 'The Tribe' makes no use of any vocal language nor even subtitles, only sign language throughout.
Director Miroslav Slaboshpitsky does not understand sign language and had to have interpreters on set to communicate and make sure that the actors were sticking to the script.
