The Speech

'The Speech' focuses on Adrien, a neurotic, hypochondriac, 35-year-old man stuck in a crisis of maturity. In the middle of a dinner with his big family, his girlfriend doesn?t return the messages and his stupid brother-in-law asks him to write his wedding speech. Will your situation get any worse?

According to the filmmaker, he really wanted to risk a film of this type: "For some time I?d been looking to make a second ?first? film: a film where I could reset the counter to zero, where I could try things out, take risks, within a reasonable production budget. 'The Speech' is a film about... me!. Ask my relatives how I behave at family meals: I?m in my own world, distracted and my head is full of other stuff. I?m glad to have dealt with the theme of heartbreak which, in cinema, is rarely looked at from the man?s point of view".
