Plot
'The siege of Jadotville' is a extraordinary story based on the real facts about acts of courage in an extreme situation. The film is about the 1961 attack to the Irish battalion (United Nations) commanded by Patrick Quinlan-played by actor Jamie Dornan- from 3,000 troops of Congo (South Africa). These were led by the French and Belgian mercenaries, and hired by mining companies. Guillaume Canet gives life to the French commander who want to defeat Quinlan and his men. Directed by Richie Smith (known publicist) and written by Kevin Brodbin, the cast of the film is completed by Emmanuelle Seigner, Jason O'Mara, Mikael Persbrandt and Mark Strong.

Conor Quinlan, who plays P.J. in the movie, is the real-life grandson of Commandant Pat Quinlan, one of the main heroic characters in the movie.
Military training
The film's director, Richie Smyth, was adamant that the cast should all be given proper military training. The actors went through weeks of intense training at a boot camp in South Africa, undergoing the same kind of training that the original soldiers would have gone through.
