The Settlers

'The Settlers' is the debut of Chilean director Felipe Gálvez that will represent its country in the run for the Oscar for Best International Picture. A colonial western that narrates the violent genocide of the Selk'nam by the British, Argentinian and Chilean colonists in the Grande Island of Tierra del Fuego at the beginning of the 20th century.

In Chile, a very rich landowner hires three horsemen to delimit the perimeter of his property and open a route to the Atlantic Ocean through the Patagonia. The expedition is made up by a young Chilean half-blood, an American mercenary and a reckless British lieutenant that leads the group. This mission will become the violent genocide of the Selk'nam.

The cast is headed by the British actor Mark Stanley, who's taken part in other productions like 'Dark River' and 'Game of Thrones'. We also find Camilo Arancibia, Benjamín Westfall and the awarded Alfredo Castro ('The club', 'Neruda'). As production director we have Sebastián Orgambide ('The clan').
