The Quiet Girl

Cáit (Catherine Clinch) is a nine year old girl who lives withdraw in her big and hostile family in the contryside of Irland in 1981. This summer, her parents have decided to send her to a wealthy relatives house to spend there the holidays. There the misterious and silent Cáit will meet with the welcoming heat of a home to wich she is not accustomed, with wonderful and idyllic landscapes. But, among all she is knowing from her new adoptive family, she will find out the secret they hide.

This debut drama of the irish filmmaker, Colm Bairéad ('Finné' or 'Murdair Mhám Trasna') presents a new point of view to watch our devastated world form the eyes of a nine year old girl that will touch the audience. 'The Quiet Girl' is winning lots of prizes such as The Critic Award in the Valladolid's Festival, or the Public Award, and also recently it has been nominated with an Oscar for Best International FIlm.
