The Prodigy

In Pennsylvania, young couple Sarah Bloom (Taylor Schilling, 'Orange Is the New Black') and John Bloom (Peter Mooney, 'Camelot') arrive at the hospital as Sarah goes into labour. As she gives birth, a criminal named Edward Scarka (Paul Fauteux, 'Reign') is shot down outside the hospital and, moments after he succumbs to his injuries, Sarah and John's son is born with blood in exactly the same places as Scarka's fatal wounds.

As their son, Miles Bloom (Jackson Robert Scott), grows older, Sarah begins to notice her young son exhibiting strange behaviours such as brutally murdering insects and talking in other languages in his sleep. Things get worse when Miles injures his babysitter and attempts to beat a boy in his class with a wrench. He is sent to see a psychologist named Dr. Elaine Strasser (Paula Boudreau, 'The Handmaid's Tale') and her colleague Arthur (Colm Feore, 'The Umbrella Academy'). They suggest that Miles has another personality living in his head and that his parents must learn to control it before this dark personality dominantes. Though Sarah instinctually dismisses this in defense of her son, she begins to worry that Miles isn't all that he seems.

'The Prodigy' is a horror-thriller directed by Nicholas McCarthy ('Home').
