Plot
'The People We Hate at the Wedding' is a US comedy directed by Claire Scanton. The script is signed by the Molyneux sisters, and is an adaptation of the book published in 2016 by author Grand Ginder. The film is produced by FilmNation Entertainment and Amazon Studios for Prime Video, which released it worldwide on november 18th 2022.
The movie follows two brothers, Alice (Kristen Bell) and Paul (Ben Platt) and their mother, Donna (Allison Janney). The three have been invited to their half-sister wedding Eloise (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) in the United Kingdom. But neither of them are very fond of going because they almost have no relationship with their sister, and are also a little bit jealous about her money and lifestyle.
However, they finally decide to fly to London where their problems with their own mother will also surface. The wedding is set to be an event not to forget...
The cast of the film is completed with Isaach de Bakolé, Karan Soni, Dustin Milligan, Tony Goldwyn, Jorma Taccone and John Macmillan. Most of the film was shot in London in the fall of 2021, about a year before their release in Amazon streaming platform. Reviews were mixed, praising the A-list class but noticing the script hadn't that many jokes for a comedy.
