The Party's Over

An African emigrant hides in the shed of a stately Andalusian house. This is the premise from which 'The Party's Over' begins. From his hiding place, he observes the daily life and the dynamics between the lady of the house, a middle-aged divorced woman characterized by her eccentricity and whims, and her young maid. One day, the lady discovers him, and some time later, he is found out by the maid. Both decide to keep it a secret from each other until an unforeseen event causes the secret to be revealed.

Elena Manrique directs this feature film starring Edith Martínez-Val, Sonia Barba, Beatriz Arjona, Frank Feys, and Carlos Bernardino. Humor and vulnerability are the elements that define this project written and directed by Manrique, marking her debut as a director after nearly three decades working in the industry from the production side. A film that, according to the team that worked on it, aims to become a reflection of social classes and the current situation where prejudices and racism are rampant.

The film has won several awards at different festivals such as the International Film Week of Valladolid (Seminci) and the Almería Film Festival. As expected, it also had an international premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and has participated in others like the European Film Festival of Seville (SIFF).
