The Pact

Karen Blixen (Birthe Neumann), the celebrated author of 'Out of Africa', is at the highest point of her career. It is said that she could even be the next winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature. She decides to return to her home country, Denmark, and there, suddenly, everything changes. It happens when she meets Thorkild Bjørnvig (Simon Bennebjerg), who's still a young and talented 29-year-old poet. The two come to an agreement, according to which she promises to take him to the top, in exchange for his unconditional obedience, no matter what the consequences are. It is based on the true story of the unusual friendship between these two talented writers and how it can turn into something disastrous, full of manipulation, guilt and innocence.

Bille August, Oscar winner for 'Pelle the Conqueror', is at the helm of the production. The screenplay was written by Christian Torpe ('The Mist?), as well as the writer's own memoirs. In addition to Neuman ('The Celebration') and Bennenjerg ('The Guilty'), Asta Kamma August, Nanna Skkarup Voss, Anders Heinrichsen and Marie Mondrup also appear. It had its international premiere at the Beijing International Film Festival and received rave reviews in Denmark. It was produced by Motor and SF Studios.
