The other Tom

Directed and written by Rodrigo Plá and Laura Santullo, 'The other Tom' follows Elena (Julia Chávez), a single mother who relies on social services to survive. Her son Tom (Israel Rodríguez) has behavioural difficulties and is labelled a "problem child" at school. When Tom is diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), his mother begins a crusade against the psychiatric medication the boy has been prescribed. Elena refuses to let her son take the drugs, a decision that will cause the social services to investigate the situation and threaten to remove her from custody. 'The other Tom' was the big winner of the Colón de Oro for Best Film at the 47th edition of the Huelva Ibero-American Film Festival. It has also been presented at the festivals of Toronto, Biarritz and Morelia, among many others, and has been very well received. El otro Tom' co-stars Leah Miller, Jorge Castro, Marina Garbalena, Sofía Prieto, Malicia Dominguez, Gloria Carden, Jeanelle Carden, Gigi Chaires, Joseph de la Riva, Abby Alonzo and Alma Brockhoff. The film is a Mexican production by BHD Films and Buenaventura, with joint distribution in Spain by Syldavia Cinema and ConUnPack.

The film will be released in spanish cinemas on september 9, 2022.
