Corean director Hong Sang-soo ('The Day After', 'Now Yes, Not Before', 'Night and Day') launches his twenty-seventh film, 'The Novelist's Film', where actress Lee Hyeyoung plays Junhee, a writer who has lost all her passion for her writings and thus decides to go visit an old friend, a woman who gave up writing and opened a bookstore. On the way, she will meet the film director who was supposed to adapt one of her novels to the big screen, but the project was finally cancelled. Together they decide to go for a walk along the park, which will lead them to meet Kilsoo (Kim Minhee), a famous actress who is also in a period of doubt, wondering what her role as an artist is. The protagonist will then have an epiphany, where she will come to the conclusion that she must make a film in which Kilsoo stars as the lead role and that it will be, this time, the novelist's film.
'The Novelist's film', which is also the meeting between great Kim Minhee and Cho Yunhee, has won the prestigious Grand Jury Prize at the Berlin Film Festival, where it was also nominated for the Golden Bear Award in the Best Film category. The rest of the cast includes Seo Younghwa, Mi-so Park, Yunhee Cho, Ju-bong Gi, Seong-guk Ha, Lee Eun-mi, Hae-hyo Kwon and Kim Si-Ha.
