August, 1914. While the World War I is developing, four orphan children from 10 to 15 years old integrate the Lulus group: Ludwig, Lucas, Luigi and Lucien. Lucien is a preteen who will soon discover what love is.
When the german army invades more parts of the North of France, the Lulus must leave the town of Picardia, but when the orphange of Valencourt abbey is evacuated, they are left behind. In this unexpected circumstances, they must be brave and avoid the conflict. In their adventure they meet Luce, a young girl who has lost her parents in the confusion of war, and they all decide to travel to Suiza, "the country never at war". Their naiveness and their friendship will be their best allies in this adventure for which no one had prepared them.
