The Low Land

Carmen Membrado (Aitana Sánchez-Gijón) is a woman who has dedicated her life to the frustrating world of screenwriting. After making more than thirty films, she decides to retire from the profession to live in a small village in Teruel, where she focuses on increasing the harvest of the olive grove she inherited from her grandmother.

However, one day she receives a postcard from an old lover, Eduardo Llanos (Pere Arquillué). It states, "I never forgot you, don't you forget me." Skeptical but curious about it, Carmen decides to visit him. Upon reuniting, they both reminisce about their situation back then and their current moment, questioning why they didn't end up together and if they should restart their relationship. Additionally, Eduardo offers Carmen one last script for her to write. It will be up to her to accept it or not.

'The Low Land' is a film directed by Miguel Santesmases, who also writes the story alongside Ángeles González Sinde. The title, filmed and financed in Teruel, is an ode to rural life, often undervalued, and demonstrates that middle-aged people also have romances and dreams to pursue, an aspect that society does not talk about commonly. Names like Itziar Miranda, Pablo Lagartos, Mariano Anós, and Javier Guzmán complete the cast. Benecé Produccions distributes the project nationally.
