Plot
'The Lost King' is a dramatic comedy inspired in the true story of the discovery of the grave of King Richard III under an insignificant municipal car parking in Leicester, a city in the east of England. The film follows Philippa Langley, a great Richard III enthusiast and amateur historian, whose passion and enthusiasm was central for the development of the movie, despite the many objections and doubts from historians and academics.
Besides of being the inspiration to create the film, Philippa Langley is the screenwriter of 'The Lost King', a job she performs with Steve Coogande. The actress who plays Langley herself in the film is Sally Hawkins, star of films such as 'The Shape of Water', for which she was nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars, or 'Happy-Go-Lucky', for whose performance she won the Golden Globe in the category of best actress in a comedy or musical.
The main cast, besides Sally Hawkings, is composed by Shonagh Price, Helen Katamba, Lewis Macleod, Jenny Douglas and Steve Coogan.
Stephen Frears, nominated on the Oscar's in the category of best director for The Grifters (1990) and The Queen (2007), directs the 'The Lost King'. Meanwhile, Steve Coogan, Christine Langan and Dan Winch work as the producers of the film.
