The Lives of the Others

The year, 1984. The place, east Berlin. 5 years before the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Stasi, the German secret police, monitored day and night who are suspected of going against the communist regime. The writer of theatre plays, Georg Dreyman is one of those suspects. Georg has a relationship with actress Christa-Maria Sieland. Georg is writing a new play, backed by the culture minister Bruno Hempf only to sleep with Christa-Maria, who let the minister do it just for not to see truncated his career as an actress.

Gerd Wiesler is one of the heavyweights of the Stasi, and is in charge of spying on the couple, who have unknowingly bugged the house. However, this mission will affect Bruno whether life more than he could imagine.
