Plot
Sosuke is invited by Kozan, a master of ink painting, to become his student after coming into contact with sumi-e painting. Thus, the protagonist will have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty offered by nature while struggling with pain and trying to develop his artistic expression skills.
'The Lines That Define Me' is the eighth feature film by Japanese filmmaker Norihiro Koizumi, known for titles such as 'A Song to the Sun', 'Gachi Boy: Wrestling With a Memory', and 'Chihayafuru'. For this occasion, he partners with Yôsuke Eguchi, mainly known for his role in the 'Rurouni Kenshin' series, Tomokazu Miura, who has worked with Takashi Yamazaki ('Always: Sunset on Third Street 2'), Takeshi Kitano ('Outrage'), and Wim Wenders ('Perfect Days'), and Yasuko Tomita, who voiced in Isao Takahata's 'My Neighbors the Yamadas'. The cast is completed by Kenichi Yajima, also a collaborator of Kitano in 'Sonatine', Kaya Kiyohara and Ryûsei Yokohama, who has appeared in the Netflix series 'Followers'.
'The Lines That Define Me' is part of the lineup for the 2024 Online Japanese Film Festival.
