Plot
Harriet (Shirley MacLaine) is a retired woman who was a great publicist and who loves controlling absolutely everything around her. So she decides that, before she passes away, she will hire Anne, a young journalist, so she will write her obituary. Anne (Amanda Seyfried) will look for the people Harriet used to know so they will describe her, but she will be unable to find anyone who keeps a good memory of Harriet. Everybody hated her. So, in order to leave a legacy, Harriet will join Anne in the work of improving her image. The woman seeks a new job, plans the reconciliation with her family and changes the way she lives in order to achieve her objective: get someone to remember something good about her when she dies.

Based on a true story

A zero in geography
At the film, Harriet's gift to Anne is a pair of airline tickets to From LAX to Andalusia. Andalusia isn't a single city or airport. It's an autonomous region in southern Spain divided into eight provinces.

KOXA, the radio station Harriet gets a job at, is 107.2 FM. In the U.S., FM-radio stations broadcast on odd frequencies. It would be either 107.1 or 107.3, not 107.2.
