Plot
Wren (Theron) is a doctor and the director of an international aid agency in Africa. In one of their missions and in the midst of a political and social revolution in Liberia, he meets an emergency physician named Miguel (Bardem) and together they face a very difficult situation, very difficult decisions to make related to humanitarianism and lives of civilians. In between is a female journalist (Exarchopoulos) that collect in your book all the experiences faced by the protagonists, who also will be involved in a passionate romance. Miguel impulsiveness irritates the quiet Wren, but both share a passion for helping others. A film directed by Sean Penn ( 'Into the Wild') and starring Charlize Theron, Javier Bardem, Sibo Miambo, Jean Reno and Jared Harris, among others. A production of River Road Entertainment, FilmHaven Entertainment, Gerber and Matt Palmieri Pictures Productions. It was presented at the 69th Festival de Cannes.

Javier Bardem always wanted to participate in the project. The Spanish actor is a strong activist and advocate for refugees. Co-produced and starred in 'Sons of the clouds, the last colony', a documentary about the consequences of colonization of Western Sahara where almost 200,000 people live in camps.

Hans Zimmer is the composer of the soundtrack, which features vocalists Eddie Vedder, Mary J. Blige and Suki Waterhouse.
