Plot
Eurídice (Carol Duarte) and Guida (Julia Stockler) are two sisters who belong to the portuguese family Gusmão in Río de Janeiro in the 1950s. Both are dreamers and they support each other with their hopes about the future. Eurídice is always willing to listen her sister's romantic adventures and Guida encourage her pursuit to follow her dream of being a pianist. But all change the day that Guida runs to Greece with a handsome sailor when she get tired of the rules laid by Manuel (Antonio Fonseca), his father. Months later she gets back at home. But when Manuel realize she is pregnant and alone, he cast her away and doesn't talk with Eurídice, who is now married, about the return of her sister. Both woman struggles to try to achieve the dreams they wished when they were little. Eurídice trying to match her married existence with her musical career and Guida going forward as a single mother. However, the two of them have hope to reunite someday while they face the obstacles that stop them to become the women they always wanted to be.
'The Invisible Life of Eurídice Gusmão' is a tropical melodrama directed by Karim Aïnouz. The film won Best Picture in the Un Certain Regard section Cannes Film Festival, the CineCoPro Award of Munich Film Festival and he achieved several Awars (Best Actresses and Best Film) in Valladolid International Film Festival.
