Plot
An old 19th century prison is about to be abandoned, and its inmates and workers are waiting for a new destination. However, problems with the administration halt the transfers and a dozen inmates and officers are left behind, in the middle of an inaccessible part of Italy. As the days go by, the atmosphere becomes increasingly tense, the dynamics among those present are different and the established rules begin to change.
The film premiered at the Venice Mostra, and was directed by Leonardo di Constanzo, who has directed other productions such as 'L'intrusa' and 'L'intervallo', as well as several documentaries. The cast includes Toni Servillo ('King of Laughter') as Gaetano Gargiouolo, Silvio Orlando ('The Young Pope') as Carmine Lagioia, Fabrizio Ferracane ('The Peacock's Paradise') as Franco Coletti, Salvatore Striano ('Cutterhead') as Cacace, Roberto de Francesco ('The Hand of God') as Buoncuore and Antonio Buíl ('Black Beach') as Bertoni. The script has been written by the director himself in collaboration with Bruno Oliveiro and Valia Santella. The studios behind the film are Tempesta, Amka Films and Vision Distribution, in collaboration with Italian and Swiss public television, the Italian Ministry of Culture and the French Institute.
