The Here After

'The Here After' is a Swedish drama film which tells the story of John (Ulrik Munther), a young boy who returns home with the intention and hope to be able to start a new life after serving time in prison. However, the teenager finds a complicated situation because no one has forgotten what happened. The return of John brings out negative behaviors of rejection and contempt in the people around him. Trapped in an atmosphere of abandonment and repudiation, John will have no choice and the same violence that previously sent him to prison start building up again.

The film was screened in the Directors' Fortnight section at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and it is the debut of the director Magnus von Horn.
