'The Good Liar' trivia and fun facts
Time mistakes
Although the film is set in 2009, Roy puts the current plastic UK £10 note on the counter in the butcher's shop instead of a paper one from the period. While Roy and Betty are at Slough railway station, a train in a partly purple livery speeds through. This is one of the new Elizabeth line trains, which are still (late 2019) running experimentally and did not exist in 2009.
First time
Helen Mirren and Ian McKellen work together for the first time in 'The Good Liar'.
Charing Cross
The Charing Cross station that appears in the film is actually the abandoned station in the Jubilee Line. It also appeared in 'Skyfall'.
Collaboration
This is the fourth collaboration between director Bill Condon and Ian McKellen, after 'Gods and Monsters', 'Mr. Holmes' and 'Beauty and the Beast'.
Script
Jeffrey Hatcher, writer of 'The God Liar', also wrote the script for 'Mr. Holmes', directed by Bill Condon and starred by Ian McKellen as well.
