Plot
In an unknown location in Tibet, a child with mystical abilities called "the golden child", demonstrates his huge power reviving a dead bird. Then, a group of villains, led by a mysterious man, breaks in to the hidden temple kidnapping the prodigious child. Some time afterwards, Kee Nang (Charlotte Lewis), a young woman, will be looking for Chandler Jarrel (Eddie Murphy) to rescue the young and promising Tibetan child.
'The Golden Child' is a movie directed by Michael Ritchie about action, adventures and comedy. The cast is completed by the actors J.L. Reate, starring by the golden child and Charles Dance, in the role of the villain of the movie, Sardo Numspa.

Although 'The Golden Child' is referred to as a boy throughout the film, J.L. Reate is actually a girl.
From a serious drama...
Originally intended as a serious adventure drama with Mel Gibson in the lead role. After Gibson turned the film down and Eddie Murphy replaced him, the script was rewritten as a partial comedy.
