The Girls Are Alright

A writer spends a summer week in an old mill with four actresses to rehearse a theatre play. During this week, the four girls get to know each other more deeply and they measure themselves through the themes and the materials of the play. The girls will contribute their own experiences to the work and their characters. Experiences such as love, beauty, faith, friendship, being an actress or death.

'The girls are alright' is a summer story about a spell. With princesses, houses, toads, a fire, a river, a party, a lot of cards and even a clueless prince.

In words of the director "the movie talks about how the feminine stories have built us and hurt us too. But, above all, it's a movie about love. Love for a job as old as is theatre, love among women, love for telling and listening. We filmed this movie knowing that sharing makes us better.Through the naturalness of her images, Arana uses the different tones and shades, the various costumes and prop decorations to make this story full of feelings and experiences in her own way.

The prime opera of Itsaso Arana is starred by Bárbara Lennie, Irene Escolar, Itziar Manero, Helena Ezquerro and the director herself. It also was presented in the competition of the Karlovy Vary International Cinema Festival.
