Karoline is a young worker who finds herself in a factory where she fights to get ahead while living in post-war Copenhagen after World War I. After being fired from her job, finding herself homeless and pregnant, she crosses paths with Dagmar, a charismatic woman who secretly runs an illegal adoption agency, where she works to help mothers in desperate situations trying to find new families for their unwanted children.

With nowhere to go, Karoline, who has no place to turn, ends up accepting a job as a nanny. Soon, a deep bond forms between the two women that grows closer and tighter, but Karoline's world collapses suddenly when she discovers the disturbing reality hidden behind her new occupation.

Swedish director Magnus von Horn helms this film, which is a period piece that blends drama with horror. The feature film has gained significant recognition at awards and festivals. It was presented in the Official Competition Section at the Cannes Film Festival, and among the numerous nominations it has received, the standout is the Oscar nomination for Best International Feature Film.
