'The Flower of My Secret' trivia and fun facts

Leo (Marisa Paredes) talks about story lines for her books, one of these is about a girl who kills her father after he tries to rape her and then along with her mother hides the body in a restaurant freezer. This is the basic plot of Volver (2006), one of Almodóvar's later films.

When Leo first meets Angel in his office, she lists a number of female writers who inspire her, one of these is Dorothy Parker. Later on in the movie Leo is visited by Paco on what is supposed to be a 24 hour leave, however it turns out to only be 2 hours. This is the basic plot line of the Dorothy Parker story 'The Lovely Leave'.

'The flower of my secret' was nominated to seven Goya Awards, including Best actress and Best director, but it didn't win anyone.
