The Fishbowl

Noelia is a forty-year-old Puerto Rican visual artist. When she discovers that the cancer that was in remission for several years has now metastasized, she decides to stop the treatment altogether and return to the place where she was born: Vieques Island, a municipality in eastern Puerto Rico. Although her partner Jorge tries to dissuade her, it is effortless. Noelia returns to where she grew up and is reunited with her mother, Flora, and her friends, who continue to live with the consequences of the contamination caused by more than sixty years of military practices of the U.S. Navy. Noelia has dedicated her life to denouncing this reality and decides to keep her cancer a secret in order to continue her work. However, her health will worsen as the situation of the people of Vieques also worsens to demonstrate decades of U.S. bombing experiments.

Glorimar Marrero Sanchez debuts in the film industry with 'The Fishtank', as it's their first work in all departments: direction, screenwriting, and production. The feature film has a Jury Award nomination at the Sundance Film Festival 2023. The cast includes Isel Rodriguez, Modesto Lacen, Magali Carrasquillo, Maximiliano Rivas, Georgina Borri, Anamin Santiago, Carola Garcia, and Nancy Millan.
