The Fall of the American Empire

The story is about Pierre-Paul Daoust, a 36-year-old intellectual who is doing a PhD in philosophy. To be able to pay a decent life, Pierre-Paul is forced to accept a job as a delivery boy. One day, while he is delivering a package, he is involved in a robbery that ends horribly: two dead and several bags full of money lying on the floor. At that time, Pierre-Paul must face the dilemma of whether to leave empty-handed or take the money and run. In this Canadian dramatic comedy, we are presented with a consumerist society devoid of values, through an ingenious and moving look. Denys Arcand signs this movie and some of the main characters are played by Maxim Roy, Alexandre Landry, Maripier Morin and Vincent Leclerc.
