The Dressmaker

'The Dressmaker', starring Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth, is a bittersweet dramedy set in rural Australia in the early '50s. Winslet plays Tilly Dunnage a dressmaker that, after spending years working for the most exclusive firms of Paris, decides to return to her small hometown to close the wounds she had buried in the past. Its mission to fix everything that she left at home, begins to achieve a reconciliation with her quirky and unstable mother Molly (Judy Davis), which is much easier to win over than a neighborhood that keeps telling the tales that led to her departure. Armed with her sewing machine and an incredible sense of style and fashion, she transforms the women of the village and gets revenge against those who never stopped defaming her, while an unexpected love arises in her heart. Jocelyn Moorhouse writes and directs this film based on the bestseller by Rosalie Ham which also features Hugo Weaving, Caroline Goodall and Sarah Snook.
