The Burning Cold

In Andorra, in the middle of the winter of 1943, the couple formed by Sara (Greta Fernández) and Antoni (Roger Casamajor) are expecting their first daughter. In this borderland there are echoes of a war, but a tense calm is maintained, alien to the conflicts that are being experienced in Europe. Little news arrives and it is not clear what is happening or why they are fighting and the priority of its inhabitants is to survive one more day in the mountains.

Although Sara is the daughter of a powerful family in the town, the couple leads a difficult and cold life where a visceral hatred rages between Antoni and his brother-in-law Joan, Sara's brother and recipient of the family inheritance. The peace of their lives will be disturbed when the pastor, Sendo, asks them to take in a Jewish family trying to escape persecution by the Nazis.

Their stay is only supposed to last a few days and it is important that it be kept secret as the consequences if the Nazis discover them could be dire for the entire town. Sara's feelings become a tangle of contradictions between doing the right thing and helping those who need it or doing what instinct dictates to protect the baby that is about to be born.

Then a sinister Gestapo captain will arrive, precipitating a chain of dramatic events.
