Plot
'The Burití Flower' is a film that tells the story of an indigenous village. Through the eyes of his daughter, Patpro traverses three periods in the history of his village, which is located in the heart of the Brazilian jungle.
A village that has been relentlessly pursued but is guided by its ancestral rites, its love for nature, and its struggle to preserve its freedom. The Krahô are a group of indigenous people who continually invent new forms of resistance to survive and maintain the culture and tradition of their village.
The feature film has received various awards in venues such as the 2023 Cannes International Film Festival, where it won Un Certain Regard – Prix d'Ensemble, the 2023 Ibero-American Film Festival of Huelva, where it won the Special Jury Prize, and the 2023 Munich International Film Festival, where it won the CineVision Award.
A Brazilian and Portuguese film directed by Renée Nader Messora and Joao Salaviza. It is the second time they have worked together as they co-directed 'The Dead and the Others' in 2018, which became the filmmaker's first feature film and the director's second, and had a commercial release in several countries, notably France.
