Plot

Laszlo Toth is a visionary Hungarian-Jewish architect who flees Europe at the end of World War II to the United States after surviving the Holocaust. With the goal of rebuilding his life from scratch and his architectural projects, he must also repair his relationship with his wife Erzsebet, from whom he was forced to separate at the beginning of the global conflict and the subsequent changes in borders and regimes that this event produced. Thus, Laszlo finds himself alone in a country still unknown to him and settles in the state of Pennsylvania, where Harrison Lee Van Buren, a wealthy and prominent industrial businessman, recognizes the Hungarian's talent for architecture. It will be through their work together to achieve economic power and forge a future that Laszlo will risk everything.

This dramatic film set in the late 1940s is directed by Brady Corbet ('Funny Games'), who is also behind the script and production. The film stars Adrien Brody (Oscar for Best Actor for 'The Pianist') as Laszlo, alongside Felicity Jones ('Rogue One: A Star Wars Story') as Erzsebet and Guy Pearce ('Memento') as the ambitious businessman Harrison Lee Van Buren.
