The Blue Caftan

In Salé, one of Morocco's oldest medinas, Halim and Mina are a long-married middle-aged couple. He lives with a secret he has learned to hide over the years, and she is sick. They both own a shop selling caftan, traditional oriental clothing, and decide to hire a young man as an apprentice to keep up with the customers' demands. Little by little, Mina will realize to what extent the young man's presence impacts her husband and affects the relationship they have built for so long.

'The Blue Caftán' is directed by Maryam Touzani, a journalist and director who has specialized in North African cinema with a career in short films behind her, such as 'When they were sleeping' and 'Much Loved.' Together with Nabil Ayouch, she co-wrote the feature-length 'Razzia,' which would represent Morocco at the Oscars, a film where she played a character in front of the camera for the first time.

Lubna Azabal plays Mina, while Saleh Bakri plays Halim. The rest of the cast is made up of Ayoub Missioui, Mounia Lamkimel, Abdelhamid Zoughi, Zakaria Atifi, Fatima Hilal, Mariam Lalouaz, Kholoud El Ouehabi, Amira Tiouli, Hanaa Laidi, Aymane El Oarrari, Ilyas El Ouahdani, Fouzia Ejjawi, Mohamed Naimane, Mohamed Tahri Joutey Hassani, Abdellah Lebkiri, and Driss Diouri.
