The Best Years of a Life

The film tells the story of a men, Jean-Louis Duroc (Jean-Louis Trintignant); and a woman, Anne Gauthier (Anouk Aimée), who 50 years ago had a fleeting and unexpected love that couldn't continue in time. Currently, the one who one time was a pilot try to remember the woman he once loved.Therefore, his son will try to help him to find that woman who, despite having been in her life for a very short time of life, remained in her memory forever. The film has a meta filmic feature: both actors star in a romantic idyll in 1966 in 'A man and a woman', and this film in turn had a sequel twenty years later. This film serves as a romantic testimony for both actors (Jean-Louis Trintignant has 88 years old and Anouk Aimée has 87 years old) that treats one of those little love stories, which has to be more intense and, over time, they end up idealizing in our head when we look at them with nostalgia.

The film is the sequel of 'A Man and a Woman', directed by Claude Lelouch in 1966. Lelouch come back to direct the story of Jean-Louis and Anne more than 50 years after the film. On the other way, Jean-Louis Trintignant and Anouk Aimée return to put themselves in the shoes of the lovers, this time with Antoine Sire, Souad Amidou and Monica Belluci.
