The Benefactor

Franny (Richard Gere) is a wealthy and eccentric philanthropist masking the dark side of his personality behind a gentle appearance. He has no friends, buy them. When he's happy, he's lovely, but when he sees frustrated his plans may soon become a terrifying monster throwing continuous accusations and threats. The plot of the film begins several years before a fatal accident: An elated Franny gets on the back of the car he drives his best friend Bobby and hugs him. At the same moment, the car deviates and hits another vehicle. Bobby and his wife Mia die. Franny survives, but retains serious injuries and, above all, a crushing burden of guilt. Years later, in an attempt to revive its past, just interfering with the lives of two newlyweds: Olivia (Dakota Fanning), the young daughter of his friend Bobby, and Luke (Theo James), her boyfriend.
